Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he does not know the availability of running back James Conner for this Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Gerry Dulac of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Conner aggravated his shoulder injury during his team's loss to the Cleveland Browns last Thursday and left the contest early.

In eight games this season, Conner has rushed for 390 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 3.8 yards per carry. He has also caught 30 passes for 242 yards and a couple of scores.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh, was originally selected by the Steelers in the third round (105th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He played in 14 games during his rookie campaign, but due to the fact that he was behind Le'Veon Bell on the depth chart, Conner's playing time was limited, as he carried the ball just 32 times for 144 yards.

Then, last season, Conner received a much bigger opportunity due to Bell's season-long holdout, and he ended up racking up 973 yards and 12 touchdowns while registering 4.5 yards per attempt. In addition, he hauled in 55 receptions for 497 yards and a score en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Conner was expected to be a crucial piece of the Steelers' offense this season, but due to various injuries throughout the year, he has been unable to develop any sort of consistency.

Pittsburgh began the season 0-3, but it has won five of its last seven games to improve to 5-5 and keep itself alive in the AFC playoff picture.
