On Monday, former USC and NFL quarterback Carson Palmer was on the Dan Patrick Show and mentioned Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin as a “wildcard” candidate for the Trojans' head coaching vacancy.

On Tuesday, the Steelers head coach fired back and shut down the idea.

“Hey guys, I don't have time for that kind of speculation. I mean that's a joke to me. I've got one of the best jobs in all of professional sports. Why would I have any interest in coaching college football? That'll be the last time that I address it. And not only today but moving forward. Never say never but, never. Ok? Anybody else got any questions about any college jobs? There's not a booster with a big enough blank check. Thank you. Anybody asking Sean Payton about that? Anybody asking Andy Reid about stuff like that?”

This was an all-timer from Tomlin and he has every right to be upset as it was a bizarre rumor brought up by Palmer with no context or no validation behind the claim. Thankfully for Steelers fans, Tomlin abruptly shut that door and did so in a manner where it would be shocking if anyone else brought it up again to him.

Tomlin has been with the Steelers since 2007 and it would be very surprising to see him leave at this point for any college football opening. He has essentially ruled that out entirely with this rant today and it was perfectly put and will have Steelers fans smiling.
