Maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers should play on Monday night every week.
The Steelers picked up their first win of the season on Monday evening, routing the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 27-3. Under head coach Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh is now 15-2 on Monday Night Football, winning all six of its home games.
Of course, the Steelers' victory came at the expense of the hapless Bengals, who dropped to 0-4, but based on how things had gone for Pittsburgh over the first three weeks, it will take any win it can get.
The Steelers won largely thanks to a strong performance from second-year quarterback Mason Rudolph, who completed 24 of his 28 passes for 229 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
Rudolph made his second start of the year following Ben Roethlisberger's season-ending elbow injury, which occurred in Week 2 and forced Roethlisberger to leave the game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Through three appearances and two starts, Rudolph has thrown for 515 yards, six touchdowns and a pair of interceptions while completing 65.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 103.2, so the 2018 third-round pick is off to a solid start thus far.
It should be noted that the Steelers still had difficulty getting their run game going against Cincinnati, as James Conner carried the ball 10 times for a pedestrian 42 yards and Jaylen Samuels totaled just 26 yards off 10 attempts, but a win is a win.
The Steelers will now get ready to play host to the Baltimore Ravens in a pivotal AFC North clash next Sunday. The Ravens have lost two games in a row to fall to 2-2 on the season.
