The Dallas Cowboys fought with a valiant effort and posed an immediate threat to taint the record of the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers. However, a last-gasp defensive interception made by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick sealed the 24-19 victory and ultimately preserved the immaculate tally of his team.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin only heaped praises to his players after grabbing the best start in franchise history:

“I'm really proud of our football team, 8-0 for the first time in franchise history,” he said. “We're humbled and honored to be that group. It's not without its trials today, obviously. Some of it was created by us. … We've got a group that sticks together and a group that's mentally tough and is able to persevere. I'm thankful for that.

Despite the win, Tomlin was aware of his team's mistakes and that they can still do even better in their coming games:

“But obviously we can't keep having these conversations every week, because one of these weeks, we're going to be doing it with an L if we're not careful. But we're thankful to win today.”

The Steelers started the tilt on the wrong foot with a scoreless first quarter. A 14-point favorite, the Steelers trailed by as many as 13, their largest deficit of the season, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. They couldn't find a rhythm on either side of the ball and faced a 13-0 deficit with four minutes left in the half, continuing the Steelers' streak of dismal starts.

Their offensive and defensive rotations came to play in the final frame where they scored 15 points and held the Cowboys scoreless that limited them from mounting a successful comeback attempt late in the game.

The Steelers remain in sole possession of the top spot in the AFC North with an 8-0 record while the Cowboys stretched their losing skid to four games and plummeted to a 2-7 tally.

Tomlin and his troops will aim to come out stronger and find their dominant form once again as they face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11.
