The Pittsburgh Steelers have lined up a primetime matchup against the New England Patriots that has plenty of playoff implications involved.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin voiced that he's hoping that his team will embrace the opportunity of playing a high-leverage game against the Patriots in Week 15.

“It's good to be in big games,” head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday while previewing his upcoming opponent. “It's better to be in big games than ones nobody's watching. We better be appreciative of this spot and not resistant in any way, but embrace it. This is what we've been fighting for since March, to be in these types of games against these types of people. Why would you fight that? It's an awesome thing.”

Tomlin certainly has been shy about discussing the parameters of the game three weeks ahead of the contest, which drew much ire concerning the timing of the conversation. However, Pittsburgh is in the position to gain separation for the top spot in the AFC playoff picture that would secure home-field advantage on through to the Super Bowl.

It is a true test to see how the Steelers hold up against the defending champions, who are coming off a 27-20 loss on Monday night to the Miami Dolphins. They have shown much fortitude over the last couple of weeks putting together comeback wins over a pair of divisional opponents.

Pittsburgh last took the field against New England in the AFC championship game that saw them fall short 36-17. On top of that, Tom Brady has had much success against the Steelers holding a 10-2 career record and hasn't thrown an interception against them in over 12 years.
