Minkah Fitzpatrick found a home with the Pittsburgh Steelers this past season, as he went on to make a Pro Bowl while also earning a First-Team All-Pro selection after racking up 68 tackles, five interceptions, a couple of forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, nine passes defended, and a pair of defensive touchdowns.

But the defensive back is hardly done growing.

When asked about his goals for 2020, Fitzpatrick said that he wants to continue having the same type of dominant impact and become even harder for offenses to deal with.

“I don’t want to see that drop-off,” Fitzpatrick said, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. “You know what I’m saying? I wanted to continue to have that impact on my team and have that impact on games. Because it’s no fun when you’re in a critical moment and you can’t do nothing about it. When you move around and you’re a moving piece on the chessboard, it’s hard to defend and you can’t just say, ‘All right, the quarterback is going to look at me and say he’s going to be in this spot every snap,’ like I was last year. It’s going to be harder and it’s going to be more difficult to take me out of the game.”

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins with the 11th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He played out of position for much of his rookie campaign, as the Dolphins had him playing cornerback. During that time, he logged 80 tackles, two interceptions, nine passes defended and a defensive score.

Fitzpatrick then played just two games for Miami this past year before being traded to the Steelers.
