Reggie Bush was once projected to be a versatile NFL player in a generational way. Next up in that hype much is Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Najee Harris.

According to the youngster, much like how Bush was used by the New Orleans Saints as a rookie, the Steelers plan to play him all over the place.

“They’re going to, I guess, line me up out wide and stuff like that how I did in college — utilize the running back in the passing game out wide, in the slot, all the way out to the ‘X’ position,” Steelers rookie Najee Harris said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

While I did it in the headline, comparing the two players is a bit unfair, as is the revisionist idea that Reggie Bush was some sort of NFL bust. While he never became that all-time great many believed he would be coming out of USC, he did have a productive and versatile professional career.

The Steelers are hoping for that, and more, from Najee Harris. Even if it is only his rookie season, and while there is talent on the outside, Pittsburgh does need to do its best to protect their aging quarterback. A decent way to do that is to lineup their rookie running back all over the field.
