Pittsburgh Steelers second-year running back James Conner has made the most of the opportunity in front of him as the clear-cut workhorse option out of the backfield this season.

This has seen him get off a strong start that has impressed his teammates and coaching staff about his all-around play on the field. Offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner is the latest to speak highly of Conner stating on Wednesday morning that he doesn't see any limitations in his ability on the field, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

“I don’t know if there are any limitations to James (Conner’s) game right now. He's been open to every position that we put him in (and) concepts. Whether it's routes (or) concept protections he has done a really nice job.”

Conner has certainly shown that with his play proving to be a legitimate three-down running back that has pushed him to rank fifth with 403 rushing yards and second with seven rushing touchdowns along with 26 receptions for 257 receiving yards in the first six games played. He has notched three 100 rushing yard performance that has reached that mark in the last two games with four total touchdowns over that span.

He has been the all-purpose running back that has provided much of what Le'Veon Bell has over the last several seasons for the franchise. It has helped minimize the impact of his loss due to his consistent production on a weekly basis. Beyond that, this has potentially solidified his status with the team if the front office were to decide to head into another direction with Bell that could make him the long-term starter in Pittsburgh.

Nonetheless, Conner has nothing but secure his future with the organization that could far exceed his current rookie contract while putting him on pace to breakout to being one of the star players in the league at his position.
