In the last few days, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been wrapped up in a bit of an internal ordeal with star wide receiver Antonio Brown that had been the center of attention after his absence from the team on Monday caught much media scrutiny.

In response to that, Brown has voiced that he was “pissed off” about the direction the team has been heading in over the first two weeks of the season and their play against the Kansas City Chiefs in the 42-37 loss last Sunday. That game saw Brown and offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner get into a heated exchange on the sideline.

But according to Ed Bouchette of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Fichtner said that that interaction wasn't a big deal.

“It wasn’t a little heated argument,” said Fichtner. “Not really an argument because I never really thought about it as that until later it became, I guess, an issue with everyone else. But it wasn’t an issue on the field.”

He added that he wants Brown to continue to play with that fiery passion on the field moving forward.

“He’s a competitor,” Fichtner said. “I mean, it’s probably more about just wanting to help the team win and his contributions. I don’t think it’s anything more. …

“I’ve known A.B. for a long time. I want him to be passionate, and I want his communication.”

Brown has been one of the tone-setters for the Steelers throughout much of his career, especially over the last several years as he has emerged as arguably the best wide receiver in the league. This has put a tremendous amount of responsibility to help carry the team to success behind his level of production on a weekly basis.

This is something that the Steelers want him to channel his recent feelings about the team toward helping lead them back to the top of the league as one of the premier teams. He has helped anchor them as being one of the top offenses in the league behind his game-changing ability in the passing game that has been a major part of Pittsburgh's success over the last several years.

It is a situation that will only be proven over time if Brown's actions will help take his game to the next level for the betterment of the team moving forward this season.
