Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson is eligible to play in Week 12's bout with the Cincinnati Bengals. The team announced that Johnson and outside linebacker Ola Adeniya by an independent neurological consultant today to return to game action were cleared to return from concussion protocol.

Johnson suffered a concussion via a helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Damarious Randall in Week 11's loss to the Cleveland Browns. Randall was ejected for the concussion-inducing late tackle.

Johnson's teammates are excited to see him back on the field. Fellow wide receiver James Washington calls him an asset to the team.

It was good to see that,” Washington said Wednesday, via Joe Rutter of TribLive. “He’s an asset to us. Having him out there, I wouldn’t say (he brings) experience, but he’s someone who knows what his role is right now.”

A third-round rookie from Toledo, Johnson has pieced together a solid first-year in Pittsburgh. In 10 games, the wide-out has reeled in 32 receptions for 380 yards and three touchdowns. His route running and speed has made for an easy target to find, no matter who tosses the ball.

The Steelers could use Johnson's presence, no matter if they face the hapless Bengals. Starting wide receiver and 2018 Pro Bowler JuJu Smith-Schuster is out with a concussion. Fellow Pro Bowler running back James Conner will not play either, as he deals with a lingering shoulder ailment.

If Pittsburgh does not restrict Johnson to a pitch-count, expect him to be a positive presence for the team in Sunday's divisional tilt.
