The Pittsburgh Steelers and veteran defensive back Joe Haden are reportedly close to a two-year contract extension, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN on Twitter.

Haden, 30, will enter his third year with Pittsburgh in the forthcoming 2019 NFL season after a seven-year tenure with AFC North division rivals Cleveland Browns. The 5-foot-11 cornerback has been an impressive and stable force for the Steelers in their secondary in his brief time with the Steel City franchise.

Haden originally signed a three-year deal worth $27 million with Pittsburgh in August of 2017 after he was cut from the Browns. Now, the University of Florida product is looking for a reworked contract, per Fowler, that would extend Haden's time on the Steelers through the 2021 season.

Haden is a two-time Pro-Bowl DB—both with Cleveland—and second-team All-Pro corner. He was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Browns after a BCS championship run with the Gators.

Other secondary players for the Steelers include Mike Hinton, Sean Davis, Marcus Allen, Brian Allen, Terrell Edmunds, and Artie Burns. Marcus Allen is Pittsburgh's fifth-round pick from the 2018 draft. The safety appeared in only two games for the team. Brian Allen is another former fifth-round pick of the Steelers, but he's only appeared in 15 of the last 32 games across the most recent two seasons.

Edmunds was the Steelers' first-round pick last year—a 6-foot-1 safety who played every game in his rookie season, recording one interception, 78 combined tackles, and three QB hits.

Davis is a veteran free safety who has been with the franchise since 2016. He has five interceptions across his three seasons in the NFL and 239 combined tackles.
