For the first time in their storied history, the Pittsburgh Steelers have won their first nine games of the regular season. Despite this historic start to the campaign, head coach Mike Tomlin feels that his team is not “up to snuff” in one particular area of the game.

According to a report from Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Tomlin is looking to get James Conner and the run game going a bit more this week against Jacksonville:

“We are not up to snuff right now. We accept ownership for that,” Tomlin said, via the Associated Press. “We are going to roll our sleeves up and solve it. We had a similar discussion a couple of weeks ago when you were asking about our third-and-long defense. We did similar things there, and I expect similar results in the run game.”

The Steelers' 9-0 start is the best since the 1978 squad went 7-0. That team went on to win Super Bowl XIII over the Dallas Cowboys. Since the 1970 merger, 20 teams have started with a 9-0 record, with each one reaching the playoffs.

If the Steelers come away victorious in their Week 11 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they'll join some truly elite company. There have been just 16 teams with a 10-0 start.

Pittsburgh took care of Joe Burrow and the Bengals on Sunday, racking up a 36-10 victory. James Conner led the Steelers in rushing with 13 carries for 36 yards. As a team, the Steelers had just 44 yards on the ground. In the air, however, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 33 yards and four touchdowns.

The Steelers and Jaguars will square off on November 22. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m. ET, with CBS having live broadcast coverage.

Let's see if Tomlin's message sparks a rushing attack.
