After making a few free-agent visits, wide receiver Eli Rogers’ next stop was his old team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. And once he came back to visit with the Steelers, they weren’t going to let him leave.

The Steelers have re-signed Rogers on a one-year deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Rogers had previously met with the Chiefs and Browns and also had a scheduled workout for the Raiders.

After going undrafted in 2015, Rogers signed with the Steelers. He had a promising first year in 2016 as he had 48 catches for 594 yards and three touchdowns. But with the emergence of rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster, he saw his role reduced last season. He had just 18 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown in 2017 and was used mostly as a punt returner.

Rogers then tore his ACL in the Steelers’ playoff loss to the Jaguars in January, which played a big part  in the team passing on tendering him as a restricted free agent. But it seems that after a quick recovery from that injury, the Steelers are ready to welcome him back.

With JuJu Smith-Schuster possibly spending more time outside this year following Martavis Bryant’s departure earlier this offseason, Rogers could once again have the opportunity to establish himself as a reliable receiving option in the slot for the Steelers.

And since he's had the benefit of spending a couple of years in the Steelers system, Rogers should be ready to contribute right away if he's fully healthy and if he gets the chance to play this season.
