The Pittsburgh Steelers are now in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era. While the Steelers did sign Mitchell Trubisky this offseason as a potential Roethlisberger replacement, there's a decent chance neither Trubisky nor Mason Rudolph is the long-term answer at the position. Pittsburgh could still look to make a move for somebody like Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo, but another option is selecting a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft.

NFL Media's Ian Rapaport says the Steelers have shown a lot of interest in quarterback prospects, and they're set to play host to several players this week:

Cincinnati's Desmond Ridder and North Carolina's Sam Howell are widely viewed as two of the top-five quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft, with Liberty's Malik Willis and Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett seen as the cream of the crop and Ole Miss' Matt Corral also in there. This quarterback class isn't graded as a great one thanks to the lack of a can't-miss talent, but you never know who could turn out to be a stud in the NFL.

There's an outside possibility all of these quarterbacks will still be on the board when the Steelers pick at No. 20, though one has to assume a team will take a chance on at least one or maybe more of these guys before they pick. However, they should have an opportunity at a few of these players. Pittsburgh will do its due diligence when it comes to scouting, and perhaps a quarterback will indeed be the pick at 20th overall.
