While the second iteration of the XFL only lasted five weeks before suspending their season due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many of the league's players did enough in those weeks to catch the attention of NFL teams. The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of those teams.

The Steelers have already signed five former XFL players this offseason and per Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune, the team could be adding more players from the league soon.

We still have [a] few more in the works,” Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said. “It was good that those players were made available to us. Going through the draft as we are with some limited information, that could curtail some college free agents that we are able to sign. Knowing these players a little bit better, we feel it was important to add as many as we could who could help us in terms of being competitive players for training camp.”

So far, the team has signed defensive end Cavon Walker and offensive tackle Jarron Jones from the New York Guardians, safety Tyree Kinnel from the DC Defenders, long snapper/linebacker Christian Kuntz of the Dallas Renegades and defensive end Dewayne Hendrix from the Saint Louis Battlehawks.

All five players were signed to one-year deals and Kuntz actually rejoins the Steelers after spending training camp with the team last year. As for Walker, the Maryland star led the XFL with three sacks through five weeks.

As of March 30, 14 XFL players have signed NFL contracts with eight different teams
