It's not too often in the NFL that you'll find a defense being overjoyed that a draft pick was spent on offense. That, however, is exactly the current case with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Najee Harris was the first round selection for Pittsburgh, the running back out of Alabama. He will warrant instant snaps and carries in a backfield that supremely underwhelmed in 2020. The move by the Steelers to draft Harris is having a positive ripple affect throughout the roster.

Long standing defensive end for Pittsburgh, Cam Heyward, praised the move by the Steelers to draft Harris on NFL Network.

ā€œI think as a defender, weā€™re most excited to have him,ā€ Heyward said. ā€œHaving a guy like that that can tote the rock 30 to 40 times a game really puts an ease for the defense. He can do multiple things. I think the investment in our offense this year has been huge.ā€

Expecting Harris to carry the ball 30 to 40 times a game might be a stretch for any running back but the points is well taken.

Harris was a monster during his time at Alabama, and he was highly thought of off the field in Tuscaloosa as well. During the NFL Draft, he celebrated at a homeless shelter that he himself grew up in with the people that are there now.

The Steelers appear to have gotten a good one and have provided some massive stability at the running back position by taking Najee Harris. Expectations might be a tad high for him in his rookie season with the Steelers but, based off how he played for the Crimson Tide, that shouldn't be a problem for the rookie.

It's a certainty Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense love the pick. Getting the defense to chime in as well is just a cherry on top in this scenario for Pittsburgh.
