The last time Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant played a regular season game, the idea of Donald Trump becoming president of the United States was still considered as much of a joke as the Cleveland Browns winning the Super Bowl.

But a 19-month absence from the NFL didn’t seem to have diminished Bryant’s skills on the field based on the way he played during the Steelers’ 17-13 preseason game win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. When asked by The Post Gazette’s Ed Bouchette about how he felt playing after a long football lull due to suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, Bryant has this to say:

“I don't feel like anything changed. I just have to get myself and my teammates to get better for the season. I'm just happy after last year to be out there.”

Against the Falcons, Bryant finished with 20 yards on two catches out of three targets in limited action. That’s good enough for Bryant to feel that he’s back and ready to contribute to the Steelers’ potent offense that ranked sixth last year in total offense with 372.9 total yards per game.

In 21 games across two seasons so far in his NFL career, Bryant has accumulated 1,314 receiving yards and 14 touchdown receptions across 21 games.
