The Pittsburgh Steelers are lined up for yet another crucial late-season matchup against the New England Patriots that will have plenty of playoff implications on the line.

What has drawn the most attention has been the Steelers lack of success against star quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots over the years, which Pro Bowl quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been a part of much of that with a 2-8 career record against them. In response to that, Roethlisberger stated on Tuesday morning bluntly that hardly any teams have fared well facing New England, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network.

The Steelers' success against Brady has come few, far, and between over the years as they have had some notable shortcomings over the years. It has been difficult for them to garner any strong outings against them as things have typically unraveled late in the fourth quarter.

This was certainly the case last year as New England was able to edge past Pittsburgh after a controversial play at the goal line involving tight end Jesse James went in their favor. Nonetheless, it has added to their seemingly mental grip hold over the Steelers that has become quite evident over the years.

Pittsburgh enters this year's game in another tight spot looking to turn it around after a pair of disappointing losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Oakland Raiders have highlighted some of their offensive woes. New England enters the game with plenty of motivation after suffering a bizarre last-second loss to the Miami Dolphins that saw them fall to a double lateral play for a touchdown on the final sequence of the fourth quarter.

This sets up what should be another intriguing matchup between these two teams in what could very well be the first of two meetings this season.
