Heading into Week 11 action against the Jacksonville Jaguars, there have been some questions concerning second-year running back James Conner's status for the contest due to being in the concussion protocol.

However, head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged on Tuesday morning hat Conner is expected to be out of the protocol process on Wednesday, according to Joe Rutter of Triblive.com.

James Conner remains in concussion protocol, but Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin expects his starting running back on the field Wednesday.

Conner had been evaluated by the team for a concussion in the third quarter of last Thursday's 52-21 win over the Carolina Panthers. He was able to return to action to have one more rush on the final play of the period but did not play beyond that after the Steelers scored a touchdown to start to the fourth quarter. There is a bit of fuzziness with this situation, but the team is taking the precautionary route with Conner in order to thoroughly examine if he is fine.

These comments from Tomlin certainly sound like he has more than shown that he is fine and should be back on the practice field to be on track to play on Sunday. There haven't been any setbacks or anything else that would draw some concern from the team to pull him back from being able to avoid missing any action.

The 23-year-old has been everything and more for the Steelers in place of star running back Le'Veon Bell as he's currently ranked third in the league with 771 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns along with 39 receptions for 387 receiving yards and a touchdown. This has seen him become the first player in team history with at least 1,000 yards from scrimmage and 10 total touchdowns in the first eight games of a season. His 10 rushing touchdowns in the first eight games played are also the most in franchise history through that span of games to start a campaign.
