It has now been over two months since the tragic spinal injury to Pittsburgh Steelers star inside linebacker Ryan Shazier. He has understandably kept to himself about the whole situation as he tries to regain his ability to walk on his own.

On Tuesday night as a guest on Steelers' fullback Roosevelt Nix's new podcast, Shazier gave his first interview in person since the tragic injury he suffered in early December against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Let it be known that Shazier is going to give everything he's got to not only just walk again but to play again in the NFL.

“I gotta get back,” Shazier said on Nix's podcast. “I know the end goal. I’m taking it every step of the way. But I’m giving it everything I got.”

On Nix's podcast, Shazier said he is engaged in a walking routine but is still unable to walk without assistance. However, his therapists and doctors that have been working with him say that the progress he has made in such a short amount of time is simply amazing.

“They see progression almost every day,” Shazier said. “They say some progression they see week-to-week [in others] they almost see day-to-day [in me]. So I’m like, ‘I gotta get it.’ I’m really trying to come back. Still be a Pro Bowler. Still be an All-Pro.”

As for that picture that made it's way across social media with Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger? Shazier insists that Big Ben is not holding him up.

“The thing is, in the picture, people think Ben was supporting me,” Shazier said. “He was barely even holding me.”

Everyone has your back, Ryan. Keep getting stronger and continue to defy the odds. Seeing Shazier back in pads on a football field would be absolutely incredible for NFL fans across the world to see.
