Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier still has a long ways to go to get back on the field, but his goals haven't changed, he wants to make the Hall of Fame. Shazier who suffered a spinal cord injury in 2017 has already been ruled out for the 2019 season but is still with the team in an unnamed role.

Shazier said that his doctors have told him not to give up on his goals, so he isn't going to, and he wants to still be one of the best linebackers of all time.

“I still want to make the Hall of Fame, still want to be the best linebacker in the NFL,” Shazier said via 24/7 Sports. “I’m not giving up on my goals, and the doctors said don’t give up on my goals, so there’s no problem with me doing that. I’m just going to keep working, and hopefully I’m going to be back as soon as I can.”

Before the devastating injury, Shazier was quickly becoming one of the best linebackers in the league and would have probably been the defensive player of the year if it wasn't for the injury.

Some people who are going through what Shazier is doing might be discouraged with what has gone on in his life. Shazier is taking a different approach at it, and trying to be thankful for every new day that comes along.

“I try to be appreciative of every day I get,” Shazier said. “Because every day I’m beating the odds. Every day I’m getting better, proving people wrong that never thought I’d be where I am. I constantly am proud of where I’m at. There are some moments that people see that are a little bigger than others. I set goals, but every day that I take another step, take another breath, I’m truly thankful and praise God for that.”
