Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier is working out and continuing his road to recovery after suffering a terrifying spinal cord injury last season against the Cincinnati Bengals in December of last year.

Shazier missed the entire 2018 season, but has made tremendous progress since the scary injury.

Shazier was the undoubted leader on defense, as well as the Steelers' most talented player. His absence from the Steelers defense was very obvious this season as well as the end of last season.

Unfortunately, it may be quite some time before Shazier can play the game again, but he has hope and mental strength on his side that his not allowing him to give up.

The Steelers' organization has not given up on Shazier, and although he becomes a free agent in March, it's safe to say the Steelers front office is not giving up on their former Pro Bowl linebacker. Shazier still wants to play one day and has remained a fantastic locker room presence. It's clear he wants to remain close with his team and hopefully come to an agreement with the team to continue what he's doing.

Team owner Art Rooney II told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that, “To the extent he wants to do that, we’re open to working that out.”

Shazier seems bound and determined to accomplish his dreams and the progress that he has made so far is beyond the expectations of many. Only time will tell at this point when and if Shazier can play again and his return should come with great caution.
