Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Ryan Switzer was traded by the Oakland Raiders just a couple weeks before the start of the season. Based on how disastrously the Raiders’ season has unfolded, Switzer was fortunate that he got out of that situation.

That fact isn’t lost on Switzer, who responded to a fan on Twitter praising how well he’s played by saying how lucky he was that the Steelers came and saved him from that impending trainwreck in Oakland.

Switzer has 18 catches for 119 yards and a touchdown in nine games for the Steelers this season. He’s also established himself in special teams as the Steelers’ kick returner.

Switzer isn’t the only one who sounds thrilled with being out of Oakland. Bruce Irvin recently exclaimed “I’m free!” at Falcons practice shortly after he was released by the Raiders.

But while those two are some of the lucky ones who were able to leave the dysfunction, their former teammates aren’t so lucky. One mysterious Raiders was even overheard in the locker room saying, “I gotta get the f— outta here.”

As for Switzer, instead of enduring a dreadful season with the Raiders which will likely land them the No. 1 pick in the draft, he’s on a possible Super Bowl contender with the 6-2-1 Steelers.

Switzer and the Steelers are likely to tack on another win on that record when they face the Raiders in Week 14.
