There were a lot of happy individuals in Pittsburgh after the Steelers beat the New England Patriots for the first time since 2011 on Sunday, but there may have been none happier than running back Stevan Ridley.

Earlier in the week, Ridley talked about how much he wanted to beat his former Patriots ballclub due to the fact that they did not even make a phone call to him after he tore his ACL in 2014, according to Ryan Hannable of WEEI:

“I was trashed after an injury. I’m just going to put it that way. I’m not going to say specifically, but to be a starter for [the Patriots] for four years, to tear my ACL and never get a call back, that’s a tough pill to swallow.”

Ridley added that he wanted the game on Sunday “more than any other game.”

Well, Ridley got his wish, as his Steelers topped the Patriots by a score of 17-10 at Heinz Field, and afterward, he said it felt great, per Hannable:

“Absolutely. It’s been a long grind back, but it paid off,” Ridley said to WEEI.com. “It was great. It was an awesome feeling.”

The 29-year-old was then asked if anyone from the Pats had reached out to him over the last week, to which he replied:

“No, it’s always quiet. We already knew how it was over there and I didn’t really want to hear from them anyway. We were focused on this and we’re going to enjoy this one as a team.”

Ridley carried the ball three times for 16 yards in the victory.
