Minkah Fitzpatrick agreed to a four-year $73.6 million contract extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This deal makes Fitzpatrick the highest-paid safety in NFL history, and his teammates are extremely happy for him.

Both Najee Harris and T.J. Watt took to Twitter when the news broke, commending Fitzpatrick on an ā€œearnedā€ and ā€œdeservedā€ payday.

This is Fitzpatrick's first NFL deal since signing with the Miami Dolphins in 2019. His original rookie contract was a four-year, $16,447,773 deal, which went with him when he was traded to the Steelers in 2019. Just a few years later, he's the highest paid safety in the league.

Right behind Fitzpatrick, Jamal Adams is the second-highest paid safety in the league. He's signed to a four-year, $70,580,000 contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Fitzpatrick's teammates are spot on, he definitely deserved the raise. The safety has been a huge contributor to the Steelers since his debut game at the beginning of the 2019 season. He recorded 124 tackles, 84 solo and 40 assisted, last season, along with six tackles (five solo, one assisted) in the postseason. He also had one forced fumble, seven pass deflections, and two interceptions in the regular season.

The two-time Pro-Bowler will undoubtedly continue his dominance as the Steelers' starting free safety this season. He has all of the pieces around him, including a massive paycheck, to have his best season yet.
