The 2018 NFL season came to a tumultuous end for the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a result, it safe to assume wide receiver Antonio Brown's time in Pittsburgh has come to an end.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding what the Steelers plan to do with Brown this offseason. According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, team president Art Rooney II indicated that they will be looking to get a heavy return on him:

Steelers president Art Rooney II said he s not going to release Antonio Brown, but “all other options are on the table.” He would not say Steelers are going to trade their All-Pro receiver, but left no doubt that is a strong possibility. Story coming soon on PG site.

Rooney's comments are certainly understandable. Even if Brown is cut, the Steelers will still need to account for $21.12 million on the salary cap regardless of whether or not he is on the team next season. It would make sense for Pittsburgh to at least get whatever they can for him if they are going to have to pay up anyway.

The 2018 campaign proved that the market is rather high for quality wideouts. The Dallas Cowboys traded a first-round pick for wide receiver Amari Cooper and it has since paid huge dividends for them down the final stretch of the season. Other teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans gave up mid-round picks to acquire their own veteran pass-catchers in Golden Tate and Demaryius Thomas. Considering Brown is better than all the aforementioned players, the Steelers should be able to get a pretty solid return this offseason.
