With the struggles that Chris Boswell has dealt with this year, the Pittsburgh Steelers are now willing to explore other options to kick field goals. Boswell has missed 11 kicks this season including two on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. The second miss was an attempt to tie the game as time expired but Boswell's plant foot slipped and it caused him to get off a bad kick.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said the team isn't ready to move on from Boswell just yet but also acknowledged some other teams have had success changing their kicker midseason.

“We acknowledge Chris has struggled; we’re willing to explore options that gives us our best option to see that ball go through the uprights, and those options include Chris,” Tomlin said via The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “The prudent approach includes Chris.

“His performance merits turning over stones, but the easy option is to assign blame. That’s not our intention. We want to do what’s right for our football team and that’s to ensure we give ourselves the best options to win a football game. That is the approach we intend to take.”

There was some talk that the footing wasn't great for Sunday's game and even Big Ben acknowledged on his weekly radio show that the poor field conditions could have played into the miss. It's unclear if the Steelers are planning on bringing in kiers to workout, but if Boswell continues to miss kicks he could be shown the pink slip after a game very soon.
