Jameis Winston is one of the most notable names remaining in free agency and there's a shared belief on which team he should sign with. When asked about the perfect landing spot for Winston, NFL executives exclaimed that he should sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Mike Sando of The Athletic:

“‘Mike Tomlin would do such a good job with him,' an exec said via The Athletic. ‘Jameis fits the offense there, and I’m just a big fan of Mike’s leadership and think he handles young, talented players who might need help very well. He respects talent. If you put Jameis with Mike and he backed up there until Ben [Roethlisberger] was finished, you might have something.'”

Of course, heading into the 2020 season, the Steelers are expected to get Ben Roethlisberger back from injury. The longtime Steelers quarterback suffered a season-ending elbow injury in 2019.

While Roethlisberger was sidelined, Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges received opportunities to start in Pittsburgh. In their 14 starts combined, Rudolph and Hodges totaled just 2,828 yards, 18 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

As a result of their poor quarterback play, the Steelers failed to reach the postseason for the second straight season. Even though Mike Tomlin expressed confidence in Rudolph as the backup, it wouldn't hurt to bring in Winston.

Just this past season, Winston threw for a career-high 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns. However, he also became the first quarterback to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season.

Nevertheless, at 26 years old, Winston has shown that he has the tools to be a talented quarterback in the NFL. Maybe spending a year behind Roethlisberger could be what Winston needs to take the next step in his development.
