Stefon Diggs has made it clear he is unhappy in Minnesota, and while the Vikings don't appear to be moving on trying to trade him just yet, it very well could become a possibility if things continue to go south before the Week 8 trade deadline.

One team that could (and should) jump in and potentially try to acquire Diggs if he does become available is the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts were blindsided two weeks before the season started, as franchise quarterback Andrew Luck suddenly announced his retirement. Indianapolis was considered a clear AFC South favorite and a Super Bowl contender prior to that, but Luck's decision to call it quits took some of the shine off of the club.

Still, Jacoby Brissett as looked more than capable over the first four weeks, throwing 10 touchdowns to just two interceptions as the Colts have gone 2-2. He didn't exactly have a brilliant performance against the Oakland Raiders last week, but that loss was more on the defense.

The main thing Brissett lacks, however, is reliable weapons in the passing game.

Sure, there is stud receiver T.Y. Hilton, who missed Week 4 with a quad injury, but other than that, the Colts are really thin on options in the aerial attack.

Indy was supposed to have Devin Funchess, whom the club signed during the offseason, but he already the injured reserve list. And as for tight ends Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle? They have been virtual non-factors thus far, particularly in the case of Ebron, who has been a massive disappointment after a terrific 2018 campaign.

So, why not pursue Diggs?

Diggs would slot in alongside of Hilton and instantly give the Colts one of the best one-two punches in the NFL.

This is a kid who hauled in 102 receptions for 1,021 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago and has consistently been a reliable weapon for the Vikings since entering the league in 2015, so we know he can play.

Heck, even if Luck were healthy, Indianapolis would face the same problem of limited weapons. It was an issue for the Colts during Luck's entire seven-year tenure as quarterback, and it continues to be a problem for Brissett in 2019.

The Colts are in a very winnable AFC South, as all four teams are locked in a four-way tie at 2-2. While the Houston Texans probably have the edge thanks to Deshaun Watson, Indy can certainly sneak up and win the division.

No, Diggs wouldn't do anything to solve what has been a shaky defense, but he would help elevate an offense that really hasn't been anything more than ordinary through four weeks.

Obviously, the asking price for Diggs would be rather high, at least right now. Minnesota would have to be blown away by an offer to trade the wide out at the moment, but if things don't turn around and Diggs continues to grow more frustrated as the trade deadline approaches, the Vikings may be more amenable to dropping their asking price, in which case, the Colts can swoop in.
