Stephen Curry may receive all of the publicity, but that doesn't mean Klay Thompson is a slouch.

Thompson took front and center during the Golden State Warriors‘ 108-101 come-from-behind victory versus the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6. The 26-year-old scored 41 points on an NBA-postseason record 11 treys.

With the Warriors facing elimination on the road, Thompson came alive when his team needed him most.

What helped spark the shooting guard's scoring outburst on Saturday night?

He received some encouraging words from his two-time MVP teammate:

“Steph told me before I went out in the fourth, ‘This is your time. You know, put on a show out there and have fun.' I took those words to heart and I just tried to be aggressive.”

He was the definition of aggressive in the fourth quarter. Thompson scored 19 points in the final quarter, outscoring the entire Thunder team by a point. While Curry caught fire later on in the game, finishing the night with 31 points, he did so on just 40.9 percent efficiency from the field.

In other words, Thompson was the MVP – not Curry – in keeping the Warriors' championship hopes alive in this game.

As Golden State prepares to face Oklahoma City in a do-or-die Game 7 on Monday night, they're going to need the other Splash Brother to put on another heroic performance to advance to their second consecutive NBA Finals.
