ESPN has been making headlines after it decided to cancel The Jump hosted by Rachel Nichols. Also, Max Kellerman left First Take, where he was alongside Stephen A. Smith, and there have been tons of rumors of why the split happened.

According to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post, Smith is targeting what would be an iconic trio, bringing Michael Wilbon and Magic Johnson alongside him.

Smith wants to team up with Johnson, possibly on “NBA Countdown,” the pregame show that leads into the NBA Finals and other marquee games, according to sources…Smith’s ideal setup would be to have a Big 3 that also includes “Pardon the Interruption” co-host Michael Wilbon, who often works alongside Smith on “SportsCenter.”

Wow. What a trio that would be if it does, in fact, become a reality for ESPN. Magic Johnson has been extremely active on Twitter since he left his position with the Los Angeles Lakers, and Wilbon and Smith already appear on ESPN together.

Kellerman is gone, Nichols is reportedly not going to be on the air anymore, and ESPN as a whole is working on remaking its NBA programming, so a Magic-Stephen A.-Wilbon trio would be absolutely wild. The possible entertainment value could be considerable if the concept is executed well.

The trio has a relationship with one another, so being together on ESPN could help that friendly, relaxed vibe come across on television. For the time being, there is no deal in sight, but it certainly seems like a possibility.
