When a team goes 73-9 during an 82-game regular season, you better believe there are some dynamic friendships on that squad.

In the case of the Golden State Warriors, there may not be a more interesting friendship than the one Stephen Curry and Draymond Green share. While the two players are very different personality-wise, they share a similar role of leading the defending champions on a nightly basis.

While Curry leads more with his play on the court, Green is the more vocal of the two. Despite the contrast in leadership approach, both of them get along well, as Curry explained in an interview with Tim Kawakami of Bay Area News Group:

“On the court, he talks more than I do. I’ve always said I’m kind of that lead-by-example guy that will talk every once in a while when I need to, when I feel it’s the right time. He is a voice for me in certain situations, but I’m also a guy–by work ethic and what I do every single day give him a platform to be able to lead our team, as well, with that voice. Then what we both do on the court every single night in games, trying to do whatever it takes to win, I know he’s going to be there with me every night. If he’s shooting well or not, doesn’t have the energy or not, I can pretty much count on him every night.”

While Curry undoubtedly gets more of the media attention of the duo, it can be argued that Green's leadership is just as pivotal to the team's success as Curry's ability to knock down a contested three-point shot.

With the team having to get through tougher squads than they did last postseason, the Warriors will need both Curry and Green's leadership if they hope to repeat as champions.
