While the Golden State Warriors cruised to a Game 1 victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday afternoon, it came with a major cost.

Although Stephen Curry remains adamant that he'll play in Game 2, head coach Steve Kerr called Curry “questionable” when speaking to ESPN about Monday night's tilt versus the Rockets:

“As far as [Game 2 on] Monday, I'd say say Steph is questionable. We will see how he responds the next couple of days and go from there.”

The reigning MVP tweaked his right ankle after missing a shot attempt with 2:12 remaining in the second quarter. The injury occurred as he was turning back to get on defense.

While Kerr remains cautious about Curry's injury, the sharpshooter doesn't envision a scenario where he won't play on Monday. He said at the postgame press conference:

“Right now, don't see a scenario where I'll be out. Obviously if it's not right and I'm at risk of further injury or what not, that's the only thing that we'll have to worry about. Pain tolerance and all that stuff, I kind of know what I can deal with on the court.

But you don't want anything more serious to happen, favoring an ankle or what not. So that's what we'll kind of pay attention to the next two days.”

Curry exited the game shortly after the injury, but re-entered the game, only to be taken out a second time. He barely played in the second half as the Warriors defeated the Rockets, 104-78.

Considering Golden State is still a better team than Houston even without Curry, Kerr's approach to the situation is probably in the best interest for the team in the long run.
