Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was declared out for tonight's game against the New Orleans Pelicans due to a left knee contusion, according to Connor LeTourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Curry played a full-throttle first quarter against the Phoenix Suns, including taking a couple hard falls on layup attempts, which could be the reason of his contusion — a thought the organization assured the injury was minor.

Being a legitimate minor injury, Golden State is able to give its star shooter some rest while Kevin Durant takes the court for the first time in 38 days and attempts to get back into the groove of things.

Head coach Steve Kerr assured Durant will play with no minute limitations, and that he'd be sure to “pull him” if he saw any sign of fatigue in him.

The Pelicans themselves will rest three of their starters tonight after being eliminated from the playoffs on Friday night after a loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Durant has been working out with Warriors consultant Steve Nash in one-on-one drills — going through screens, picks, and catch and shoot scenarios.

A night without Curry will give Durant the ultimate green light to attempt 20-plus shots during the game, as long as it comes within the flow of the offense.

Golden State only has two more games to play after tonight, facing the Utah Jazz on Monday and the Los Angeles Lakers in Wednesday's regular season finale on Wednesday, both of which will be played at Oracle Arena, along with tonight's game.
