Former NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury recently made headlines after announcing his attempt at an NBA comeback. While it may seem farfetched at his age, Marbury is confident that his resume will convince current NBA teams to give him a shot.

After an accomplished professional basketball career both here and overseas in China, Stephon Marbury even went so far as to say he undoubtedly deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame, according to Chris Chavez of Sports Illustrated:

“My numbers are Hall of Fame. That's it,” Marbury said. “That's what it comes down to and what you've done,” he added. “My mark on basketball globally is beyond – it's never been done before. Something that's never been done before obviously, you have to show homage to that.”

There is no denying that in his prime, Marbury was one of the NBA's elite point guards. After jumping on a number of teams early in his career, he settled down nicely with the Phoenix Suns, where he earned a spot on two All-NBA teams.

Following his underwhelming departure from the league, he went on to star for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association where he made a complete transformation of his image. However, it goes without saying the level of competition was hardly comparable to what currently exists in today's NBA. Furthermore, it may be even more difficult for him to plead his case as a potential Hall of Famer.
