With the U.S. presidential elections happening in less than three weeks, a lot of Americans have already been talking about it even more now.

One of them is Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr.

Speaking to Sam Amick of USA TODAY, the 51-year-old bench tactician named his MVP contenders this season and likened their chances of winning it to the candidates battling for the head of state post.

“I think KD is kind of like Gary Johnson.”

“You know, he’s like the third party guy. He’s going to come in and take a few votes from Steph, take a few from LeBron. Steph might be Ralph Nader, like he takes some votes from KD, takes some from LeBron. And then Damian Lillard wins the election, so that’s my forecast.”

But when asked who he thinks Donald Trump is among them, Kerr had this to say with a smile on his face:

“I’m not answering that. Nobody on our team.”

The 2015 champion coach certainly acknowledges the fact that having the last two MVP winners in his lineup this season will lessen the likelihood of one of them winning the award again this year. But with Lillard only being considered as one of the dark horses according to Vegas sportsbooks, it's surprising he chose him over the likes of James Harden, Anthony Davis, and Blake Griffin, who are more favored than the Portland Trail Blazers‘ point guard.

But Lillard has shown he is already in mid-season form as he has impressed tremendously in their preseason games. If he leads the Blazers again to the playoffs and make a deeper run this time, he'll definitely be one of the favorites to win his first MVP award.
