With the regular season starting next week, NBA teams and coaches are now in the process of finalizing their lineups and deciding who to cut among the players they have competing for a roster spot.

The Golden State Warriors are one of them as they have four players vying for the final spot. But after an impressive showing so far this preseason, veteran center JaVale McGee has emerged as the favorite to land the job. Head coach Steve Kerr talked about the 28-year-old's chances of making it beyond the exhibition games, per Anthony Slater of the Mercury News:

“I think he's got a good chance (of making the roster). He's had a good camp.”

McGee impressed his coach and teammate Andre Iguodala, who had nothing but high praises for him. Last Saturday, he played his best preseason game so far finishing with 12 points, four rebounds and two blocks against the Los Angeles Lakers. The number may seem pedestrian but what's not included in the stat sheet is his hustle and how hard he played on the defensive end. When asked about how what it would mean to him if he makes the final lineup, he had this to say:

“It would mean everything. I'm definitely trying to bring my talents here and help this squad win another championship, so that's all I'm really focused on. Whatever I have to do to be the one to help them.”

Should he make the Warriors' regular season lineup, McGee is expected to come off the bench and provide quality minutes at the five spot through blocks and defending near the basket.
