The current Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, has been out of the playoffs for a full two and a half series. After coaching in Game 2 against the Portland Trailblazers, he left the head coaching seat to his first-hand man and former Cleveland Cavaliers coach, Mike Brown, who was more than a sufficient replacement for the former player of Chicago Bulls and now the three-year coach of the Warriors.

However, while Brown did do an excellent job as head coach, and the Warriors were a 11-0 team under Brown coming into Game 2 against the Cavs, when news hit that Steve Kerr will return to the bench and not only for one game, but for the rest of the series.

While his coaching was maybe not needed as much, he was still sorely missed by firstly Warriors fans, and then probably Warriors players. His presence there means something to the players and it is hard to explain, but it is just how it is. Kerr, in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, spoke about how he really feels about his health and his condition.

“I’m feeling better,” Kerr said. “I’m feeling more like I did at the end of the regular season. I wanted to string together a few good days. I did that and am feeling well enough to coach. I feel like I’m back at the baseline of where I was during the regular season.”

Kerr continued talking and mentioned how they broke the news to the Warriors players before Game 2.

“They know I’m doing better, I’ve been giving them updates,” Kerr continued. “But we didn’t have a shoot-around this morning. I didn’t send out a group text or anything. I am just going to go in there and…well, they probably already know because they’re all on their phones all the time.”

While it is true that the Warriors are still good, as a matter of fact, 50-4 in the last two seasons when without Kerr (acting head coaches were Brown this year and Luke Walton last year), Kerr is still the integral part of what they are doing as an organization and the whole relationship between players and their coach is just amazing.
