Former two-time league MVP Steve Nash feels the Golden State Warriors, the team he works for as an advisor, has the potential to produce the greatest offense in NBA history.

The eight-time NBA All-Star knows what it's like to be in a groundbreaking, high-octane offense; he was part of the run-and-gun Phoenix Suns for several years under Mike D'Antoni.

“This team potentially could be better (offensively) than any team in NBA history,” Nash told Anthony Slater of The Mercury News on Wednesday. “But again, that's just potential.”

After a sluggish opening preseason game against the Toronto Raptors in Vancouver, the Warriors found their shooting touch and chemistry on Tuesday and sounded the red alert for teams in the Western Conference – they absolutely demolished the L.A. Clippers, 120-75.

“They have to find a way to play together,” said Nash. “If they can find that, sure, they can be the best offensive team. But the culture here is to try to be the best defensive team and the offense will take care of itself.”

Head coach Steve Kerr has always predicated defense over offense, given that baskets can come and go from game to game, but a defensive mindset tends to stick and can be a call to action at any given time.

If the Warriors manage to stay healthy, the sheer amount of offensive firepower is bound to set some scoring records this upcoming season.
