In the wake of E3 2022 being canceled, many other game publishers and developers are picking up the slack when it comes to video game announcements in June. Luckily, Show host, Geoff Keighley continues to be a shining beacon when it comes to video game presentation and has recently announced that the Summer Game Fest will be returning in 2022.
In an announcement made over on his Twitter profile, Geoff Keighley has revealed that the Summer Games Fest 2022 will be happening live on June 9th at 11 AM PST ( 2 PM EST / 6 PM GMT.) Viewers can expect a full-on presentation featuring several different key industry figures, hands-on first looks, developer spotlights and so much more.

To make the presentation even more special, Geoff Keighley has also announced that the Summer Game Festival 2022 will also be streaming live at select IMAX theaters all across the world.

The overall public reception to the announcement has been met with positivity from the overall gaming community, as many users are starting to warm up to the Summer Game Fest as the new replacement for E3, despite the lack of a physical presence, and cute booth babes to gawk at. As the Summer Games Fest continues to move forward, many have been wondering if E3 is still a necessity at this point. While an all-digital showcase is good for the consumers, the business-2-business side of E3 has also been an important aspect of the conference, which is now sorely missing from the equation.
Of course, Gamescom is still planning to host their conference in August this year, so perhaps the business-2-business meetings within the gaming industry will not be lost after all.
