The Phoenix Suns’ frontcourt is set to get a boost this late in the regular season. Suns interim head coach Jay Triano announced earlier today that power forward Alan Williams is going to make his season debut later tonight, when the Suns host the Boston Celtics, per Scott Bordow of Azcentral.com.

Triano said Alan Williams will play tonight and that he'll try to play Williams and Tyler Ulis together.

Williams has missed the Suns’ first 74 games of the season to recuperate from a right knee surgery he underwent just before training camp.

Before his expected season debut against the Celtics, the 25-year-old product of UC Santa Barbara tried to shake off some rusts from a long layoff by playing a few games with Phoenix’s G League affiliate team, according to Craig Grialou of Arizonasports.com.

Last week, with the Suns on the road, Williams played three games with the team’s G League affiliate, the Northern Arizona Suns.

“I got better every single day I was up there,” he said. “It was a good thing for me just to get some game reps in and go against guys who were trying to make it as well. It was good.”

Alan Williams did not hear his name called in the 2015 NBA Draft, but was later signed by the Suns to a 10-day contract in 2016. Last year, Williams signed a three-year deal with Phoenix worth $17 million.

So far in his career, Williams has played in 57 games in the NBA, all with the Suns, and owns averages of 6.6 points and 5.8 rebounds. His return will likely cut into the minutes of the likes of Alex Len, Dragan Bender, and Marquese Chriss.
