Although the Phoenix Suns have been one of the worst teams in the Western Conference thus far in the 2017-18 NBA season, fans have at least been treated to the stellar performance of budding star shooting guard Devin Booker.

While the Suns have been largely mediocre all year, Booker has continued to establish himself as one of the league's most promising young stars. As a result, Phoenix has made it clear that he will be the focal point of their rebuild moving forward. According to Scott Bordow of AZCentral, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough will even ask for Booker's input on team personnel decisions from here on out.

“With his emergence and importance to not only what we’re doing in the short term but hopefully in the next decade-plus, I think it’s important to make him a partner in the process,” said McDonough.

“Kind of show him the blueprint and vision we have not only for the rest of this season, but for the summers of 2018, 2019, 2020, etc.,” McDonough added. “In terms of what he thinks are important characteristics for a head coach to have, what’s important to us as an organization and how we build over a number of years.”

Devin Booker set the expectations high after bursting onto the scene during his rookie season. Since then, he has managed to progress tremendously with each year.

He is currently averaging 24.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this year. Furthermore, he did not skip a beat in his return from a nine-game absence with 32 points, five rebounds, and six assists on Tuesday.

Devin Booker's steady progression is something that the Suns could definitely take advantage of while they get their bearings. The Suns have already made a number of key roster decisions this year, especially at the point guard position.
