The Phoenix Suns went scorching hot in the fourth quarter of Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, hitting 84.2% of their shots. The Suns scored an easy 129-109 victory to take a 2-0 lead in their second round series.

The Suns tallied the second-best fourth quarter marksmanship in the last 25 years in the NBA Playoffs, trailing only the San Antonio Spurs who shot 87.5% in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, according to ESPN Statistics & Information.

The Suns shot 64.5% overall in Game 2, the highest field goal percentage in the team's postseason history.

Suns guard Chris Paul sizzled once again with 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field, including 14 markers in the final period, to help lead the sweet-shooting squad. His backcourt mate Devin Booker finished with a team-high 30 points on 11-of-19 field goals.

To recall, the Spurs handily beat the Heat in five games in the NBA Finals in 2014. The team, led by the trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili and a then-budding star in Kawhi Leonard, went absolutely nuclear on the Heat. The Spurs shot an amazing 52.8% from the field in the entire series.

With their ball movement, accurate sniping, and veteran leadership, it's hard not to find similarities between that Spurs unit and the current iteration of the Suns, who have an extra competitive edge in this year's NBA Playoffs.

The Suns hope to take a more commanding 3-0 edge against the Mavericks on Friday.
