Chris Paul’s serious Deandre Ayton message to Suns amid sensational playoffs
After the Suns took a 3-1 lead against the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Finals on Saturday, Paul acknowledged the massive contribution of Ayton to the success of the team. In fact, he called out the Phoenix top brass to “get him a bag this summer.”
As NBA reporter Marc Stein noted, Ayton is set for a lucrative contract extension this summer like his fellow 2018 draft classmates Luka Doncic and Trae Young.
Chris Paul just pointed to Deandre Ayton during his post-game interview with @Rachel__Nichols and announced that the Suns are "gonna get him a bag this summer."

With the way he has played for the Suns throughout the 2020-21 season, particularly in the playoffs, Deandre Ayton has certainly set himself up for a nice payday that will also keep him in Arizona for the years to come. Chris Paul’s endorsement should only help him in that regard as well.
In Game 4 against the Clippers, Ayton was phenomenal once again with a monster performance of 19 points and a game-high 22 rebounds. He also finished with three assists, one steal and four blocks in the contest, which proved to be crucial for the Suns to stop the LA comeback and win 84-80.
Sure enough, Ayton is probably not yet thinking about his rookie scale contract extension in the summer. He is playing in what could be said the biggest moment of his career, and as they move one step closer to the NBA Finals, their focus is undoubtedly winning the next game at home.
