Chris Paul has made his first statement since being traded to the Phoenix Suns from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As expected, Paul penned a heartfelt message to Thunder fans on Instagram.

Chris Paul appeared in 70 games for the Thunder in 2019-20. He averaged 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists while shooting 48.9 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from beyond the arc and 90.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Against all odds, Paul led the Thunder to the 2020 playoffs in the rugged Western Conference. Even though OKC lost to the Houston Rockets in the first round at Walt Disney World, the series went seven games.

Paul, a future Hall of Famer, now gets to play with Suns star shooting guard Devin Booker, one of the best pure scorers in the NBA. The 24-year-old, who guided the Suns to a perfect 8-0 record during the bubble games at Walt Disney World in Orlando, finished the 2019-20 season with stellar averages of 26.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

It's going to be really fun to watch the Suns play next season with Booker, Paul and former No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton leading the way. Phoenix head coach Monty Williams and Paul already have a rapport, too, since Williams coached Paul in New Orleans.

The Suns haven't made the playoffs since 2010. The 2020-21 season, which starts on Dec. 22, should be the campaign where that drought is ended in the desert.
