Following the trend of NBA players showing physical transformations after the quarantine period, Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton also lost some weight for the re-start of the 2019-20 season.

Ayton's Suns teammate Mikal Bridges earlier revealed that 21-year-old University of Arizona product looks more fluid with his movements during their practices inside the bubble at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

While this development is certainly good news for the Suns organization, it might actually do more harm than good towards the 6-foot-11 Bahamian center's development.

Deandre Ayton, after all, has often been criticized by pundits for his supposed lack of physicality down low that is expected for players of his size and stature.

Much like the bigs of this generation, Ayton spends a lot of time in the perimeter and likes to operate outside the shaded area. While his range doesn't stretch beyond the 3-point area like elite centers Karl Anthony Towns, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic, Ayton doesn't seem to have the same commanding interior presence as opposed to his top-level peers.

Ayton was picked first overall by the Suns in the 2018 draft and was expected to form an instant one-two punch with the team's All-Star guard Devin Booker. He faced a lengthy 25-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy at the beginning of the year. Still, Ayton managed to put up respectable averages of 19.0 points, 12.0 boards, and 1.7 blocks in 30 games.

A more mobile Ayton will be good for Phoenix, but he must still be able to bang bodies with the league's behemoths on a nightly basis. Ayton's progression, meanwhile, is especially vital for the Suns in hopes of keeping Booker happy in Arizona.

The Suns (26-39), meanwhile, currently sit in 13th place in the crowded Western Conference and will be looking to crash into the top 8 once play resumes on July 30.
