Phoenix Suns rookie center Deandre Ayton could miss the team’s second game of the season against the Denver Nuggets after rolling his ankle during practice.

According to Bob Young of The Athletic, Ayton is currently listed as questionable. He already treated his sprained ankle, but the Suns’ medical staff are still monitoring the rookie's condition to see if he could join the team in their visit to Denver.

Ayton, the no.1 overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, put up a strong performance in his debut with the Suns on Wednesday. He scored 18 points on 72.7 percent shooting and recorded 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block as Phoenix routed the Dallas Mavericks, 121-100. The 20-year-old big man was one of the the best players on the court for the Suns, and he showed he is as good as advertised by tallying numbers in an efficient way.

Phoenix will be hopeful on Ayton’s recovery ahead of its meeting with Denver. The Nuggets boast one of the best big men in the league in Nikola Jokic, and the Suns could really use Ayton’s help in stopping the 23-year-old Serbian.

Should Ayton miss the Denver match, Phoenix would likely lean on former starting center and ex-Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler to pick up the slack.
