In a recent interview with Chinese media, Hall of Famer Tracy Mcgrady said the his favorite young star in the league is Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker. Despite the team not having any playoff appearances during his stint, Booker remains to be one of the few bright spots for Suns as he continues to make his case as one the top shooting guards in the league.

Last season, Booker averaged 24.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. One of his sources of motivation is helping his team make the playoffs. In a recent interview with AZ Republic, he was quoted in saying,

“I’m done with not making the playoffs. I’m serious,” Booker said Wednesday as the Suns conducted their exit interviews following a 21-61 season. “This is probably the last year I’m ever not making the playoffs. That’s putting pressure on myself I need. I’m watching these games right now with teams trying to clinch and the playoff atmosphere of those games and those are the games I want to be in.”

“I always think about turning the franchise around, to get it back how it used to be. I watch the highlights of (Charles) Barkley and (Steve) Nash and how alive the arena was. One of my goals is to get it back that way.”

Last summer, he signed a five year, 158 million dollar max extension with the Suns as they look to have him be cornerstone of the franchise for the foreseeable future. The Suns also added No.1 overall pick DeAndre Ayton and NCAA champion Mikal Bridges to help with their playoff push next season.
