Phoenix Suns duo Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges exchanged banter regarding Booker's shooting and Bridges' lack of it after their game against the Dallas Mavericks last Friday. Booker commented on Bridges' perfect shooting game after Bridges went 7-for-7. As per Gerald Bourguet, Booker said Bridges better not have another perfect game:

“I'd rather he go 7-for-8 and shoot the next one from half-court.”

Booker may have attempted more shots than Bridges, but the two each recorded 19 points on the board. When asked about Booker's comments on his shooting, Bridges responded by saying:

“It'd be easy to get more than 7 shots if I was coming off the pick-and-roll every time!”

Despite this perceived lack of shooting, Bridges has been thriving in the defensive department. However, the Suns coaching staff has been getting on Bridges, Jae Crowder, and Cam Johnson for their frequent turning down of shooting chances. Johnson put 13 on the board against the Mavs, but Crowder recorded only 5 points.

The Phoenix outfit still managed to outscore the Mavs in the fourth quarter 33-20. Ironically, it was Crowder's 3-pointer that capped off a 12-0 run for the Suns and gave them an eight point lead with 7:29 left on the clock.

The win stretches the Suns' winning streak to 11 games now, the fourth longest in franchise history since 2006-2007. The off-court banter between Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges provides a glimpse of the spirit within the Suns camp. It remains to be seen whether this lack of shooting will be fixed in the long run, but for now it remains sunny in Phoenix.
