The Phoenix Suns are looking to turn around their losing ways in the 2018-19 season. Behind rising star Devin Booker and No. 1 pick Deandre Ayton, the future looks bright for the franchise.

No one is more enthusiastic about the upcoming season than Booker, who is the de facto leader of this team despite barely being able to legally purchase alcohol.

In an interview with Bill Reiter of CBS Sports, Booker described how the two cornerstones of the franchise are ready to take the league by storm:

“We're in the best shape we've been in since I've been a part of the franchise. With the trades we've made, and with Deandre. He had an unbelievable summer league, playing the right way, not forcing it, was still dominating on both sides of the floor. He'll be the downforce threat we need to open up space for everybody else.”

Booker is right in saying the Suns made some important additions to their roster.  Besides drafting Ayton, they added Trevor Ariza in a surprise move, one of the most coveted 3-and-D players on the market. They also added wing Mikal Bridges, who looks to be ready to contribute to an NBA team right out of the gate.

As for Ayton, he did have an impressive Summer League, averaging 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Booker hopes that the Summer League performance can transfer over to the regular season. If so, he declared that “it's winning time” in Phoenix.

No one is expecting the Suns to contend for a championship this season, but if they can move up a few spots from their last-place finish last year and Ayton proves he was worthy of a No. 1 pick, it will have been a successful season for the franchise.
